Salary Range: $29.60 To $29.60 Hourly
The IT Specialist is responsible for assisting with maintaining Vermont Public’s computer and network infrastructure and supporting the traditional business and broadcast users of that technology. While assisting and maintaining the infrastructure the IT Specialist is the lead go to person for creating and promulgating a culture of prudent project management, on budget and on time. Account administration for email, windows networking, and other on site and cloud-based systems. Work with broadcast engineering team to meet the computing and data needs of projects. Close collaboration with network / I.T. consulting engineers on various projects and resolution of technical issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance of computer workstations, laptops, networks, printers
Support of networking infrastructure
Broadcast infrastructure support
Technical support of Vermont Public’s computer and network infrastructure. Administration of email, network, and other accounts and systems.
Collaborate with other departments in Vermont Public to assist in developing workflows, systems, and processes that maximize efficiency and reliability.
Serve as a planning, technical, and economic resource to other departments as they plan and execute their work.
Create systems and processes with appropriate documentation that support Vermont Public’s strategic plan, outcomes of this position, and conform to industry best practices.
Supporting teams in managing projects and being a sound board for all institutional project planning

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Three years relevant experience in Windows desktop support, project management, networking technology, and basic system administration tasks or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and follow-up skills plus experience working in a time-sensitive broadcast media environment are desired. Strong organizational, communications (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills required. Work collaboratively. Strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks and work independently. Familiarity with networking, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Office365 and Windows server administration, network and desktop security required. Familiarity with basic broadcast technology concepts and software, Internet audio streaming is desirable.
Working Conditions
Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in the normal performance of job duties.
Physical Demands
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods, bending, and filing, but most duties are from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials on a computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
